The Cash for Work (CFW) program is a temporal six month government initiative providing employment for cash wages to support drought-affected communities through local labor for community projects.
The overall aim of this program is to provide temporal income generating opportunities to vulnerable individuals in exchange for cash wages to stimulate economic activities at the local community level and contribute to community infrastructure maintenance.
Each beneficiary is expected to work for a maximum of ten days at a rate of K60 per day, bringing the total amount to K600.
Government has set aside K2 Billion for the Cash for Work Program, of which K1.8 billion will be used to pay beneficiaries.
Works are currently underway in all the nineteen wards of Chikankata District.
