The Chikankata Town Council has conducted an orientation meeting for contractors and suppliers aimed at enhancing compliance, accountability, and effective service delivery in the district.
The meeting brought together local and neighbouring contractors and suppliers, who were guided on procurement procedures, contractual obligations, financial regulations, and performance expectations when undertaking council projects.
The orientation also emphasized adherence to timelines, quality standards, and value for money in the implementation of development projects.
Opening the meeting on behalf of the Council Secretary, Director of Human Resource and Administration, Madam Potrine Ngandu Mwanamwale emphasized the importance of transparency and professionalism, noting that proper understanding of guidelines helps reduce delays, disputes, and non-compliance.
The contractors and suppliers were taken through the orientation by Director of Engineering Services, Eng. Chikumbuso Banda and Senior Procurement and Supplies Officer, Chomba Chileshe.
Topics covered include, among them; the Electronic Government Procurement (E-GP) System, Eligibility and Bid Preparation.
The orientation provided a platform for interaction, allowing the contractors and suppliers to ask questions and seek clarification on procurement processes and project execution.
