Chikankata Member of Parliament, Honorable Jacqueline Sabao has commissioned Eight (8) Constituency Development Fund Community Projects in Chikankata Constituency of Chikankata District.
The projects were commissioned at a colorful ceremony held on Monday, 24th February, 2025 at Malala Secondary School in Malala Ward.
The 8 commissioned projects include:
- 1×3 Classroom Block at Dundu Secondary School in Upper Kaleya Ward – K1, 013, 471.83
- 1×2 Classroom Block at Malala Secondary School in Malala Ward – K587, 661.20
- 1×3 Classroom Block at Chabota Primary School in Namalundu Ward – K823, 642.00
- Two (2) Water Schemes in Malala Ward in Malala Ward – K400, 000.00
- Water Scheme at Natandi in Mabwetuba Ward – K187, 626.25
- Water Scheme at Munali Hills in Nzingu Ward – K244, 923.75
- Construction of Simutwe Bridge in Mabwetuba Ward – K350, 000.00
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Sabao noted that the transformative policies of the new dawn government under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema are changing the lives of the people of Chikankata District.
And speaking earlier, Chikankata Town Council Chairperson, His Worship Mr. Conard Ngoma says the development that the district is witnessing is exactly what was envisaged by President Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr. Ngoma says the local authority will continue to work in ensuring that the grassroots, through Ward Development Committees (WDC’s), determine the kind of developmental projects needed in the communities.
And Chikankata District Commissioner, Mr. Timothy Chipolyonga has encouraged parents to take their children to school as there is now no excuse considering that the new dawn government has made education free.
Meanwhile, Chikankata Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) Chairperson, Mr. Mukuwa Mulyate says it is encouraging to see communities appreciating and benefitting from the many policies of government, such as CDF.
The commissioning ceremony was also witnessed by Council Secretary, Mr. Christopher Siasinyanga, Malala and Mabwetuba Ward Councillors, Mr. Chris Hamoonga and Mr. Ng’andu Nkwilimba, respectively, Senior UPND district officials, WDC members and the traditional leadership.
The commissioning of these developmental projects not only changes the face of Chikankata District, but also positively impacts the communities as community members will be accessing improved services.
